Massac County Circuit Court Moving to Emergency Courtroom

Facebook

The Massac County , Ill. Circuit Court is moving to an emergency courtroom as conditions at the courthouse continue to deteriorate.

County Commissioner Jeff Weber says the county is putting $10,000 toward preparing a room for court proceedings at the old Banterra Bank building. Banterra donated the building to the county last year to house government offices currently located at the courthouse.

Weber says the courthouse is in need of $5.5 million in repairs. Earlier this month, voters rejected a 1 percent sales tax to fund the renovations.
