Marshall County alcohol sales petitioners are close to reaching the required number of signatures for a local option election this summer.

Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Randy Newcomb said supporters have collected 3,000 of the required 3,366 signatures. Newcomb is confident petitioners will get the last 366 signatures by Monday. Supporters have until May 29 to put alcohol sales on a late July ballot.
