With about 6 weeks before deadline, the Marshall County Kentucky Lake Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has around 60 percent of the signatures it needs to put alcohol sales to a vote.

Executive Director Randy Newcomb says petitioners have collected a little over 2,000 signatures of the needed 3,366 to put the measure on the ballot.

Alcohol sales supporters have until May 27 to gather the required signatures. Newcomb hopes to finish petitioning by May 15 for a vote in July. He says he’s confident petitioners will be successful at putting alcohol sales to a vote.
