Five western Kentucky communities are at the center of Kentucky Main Street’s Fall Conference this week.
The statewide program that encourages downtown revitalization and economic development is showcasing historic buildings and rehabilitation projects in Paducah, Murray, Cadiz, Princeton and Guthrie.
Kitty Dougoud is the statewide Main Street Coordinator and Site Development Manager for the Kentucky Heritage Council.
She said the organization asked Main Street directors to choose what they want to highlight in their community.
“This gives our directors an opportunity to see other main street communities that work with those people and take away some of the ideas that may have been used here that could work in their communities back home.” Dougoud said.
Stops include the recently revitalized Coca-Cola Plant in Paducah that now houses a brewery, restaurant and other businesses.
Dougoud said Kentucky Main Street is focusing on “placemaking, walkability, livability and quality of life issues.”
