Maiden Alley - "Shut Up and Sing"
By Bryan Bartlett
Murray, KY – Viewers of last weekend's Grammy Awards witnessed a redemption, of sorts. The Dixie Chicks made off with five statues, including Album of the Year -- a triumph after three years of little or no airplay on country music radio stations. The documentary film, "Shut Up and Sing" chronicles the group's travails after a fan and media backlash ensued following comments made on stage by their lead singer as US troops readied to invade Afghanistan in 2003. Bryan Bartlett talked to Maiden Alley Cinema's Larry Thomas about the film and the controversy.
