Maiden Alley - The Last Mistress
By Todd Hatton
Murray, KY – Catherine Breillat's adaptation of the French novel The Last Mistress is the story of two lovers in the society and bedroom politics of mid-19th century Paris. A notorious libertine attempts to end his decade long relationship with a tempestuous Spanish woman, played by Asia Argento, now that he's engaged to a respectable young woman. This beautiful and elegant film flashes back and forth to reveal the intense decade the lovers shared. Todd Hatton spoke with Larry Thomas about the film, on offer this weekend at Maiden Alley Cinema in Paducah.
