Madisonville Veteran's Day Parade Seeks Regional Status
By Casey Northcutt
Madisonville, KY – Organizers for the Madisonville Veteran's Day Parade are seeking to further the event's reputation. Parade Public Relations Chair Suzanne Henley says she will apply to the Department of Veteran's Affairs in December, requesting regional status for next year's event. Henley says the parade has already been deemed the largest in Kentucky. The added clout, however, will give it further support from the state and from the Department of Defense. The added support could be in such forms as flyovers and military vehicles. Henley says so far, there are no regional Veteran's Day sites in Kentucky. The Department of Veteran's Affairs will announce their decision regarding her application in May. This year's parade is Sunday, Veterans Day is November 11th.
