LBL to Sell Bison
By Carrie Pond
Golden Pond, KY – About 60 bison will be sold at the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area's Bison Auction January 24th. The annual event is conducted to thin the two LBL herds of American Bison. LBL Spokeswoman Crystal Powell says most buyers are local residents interested in processing bison for meat. In the past, bison prices have ranged from 350 dollars to as much as 750 dollars, varying with size, age, and other factors. Pricing is generally based to parallel the beef market. The auction will begin at the Elk & Bison Prairie Corral and then move to the South Bison Range Corral. Bison must be paid for in full and transported off-site on the day of the auction.
