KYTC Spokesperson On Six-Year Road Plan

Kentucky’s six-year road plan will focus on maintaining existing roads and bridges.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet used a new data driven approach to determine the most important projects.

Chris Jessie is the spokesman for the state transportation cabinet office in Elizabethtown. He said the cabinet found a common theme in feedback received from both Kentuckians and those visiting the commonwealth.

“Take care more of what you have rather than focus on building new routes,” said Jessie.

Jessie said many of Kentucky’s roads are at the age where they need maintenance work, and focusing on that now will save money later. The road plan still has to go through the legislature and be approved.

Jessie said many legislators were involved in crafting the plan, so the project requests should come as less of a surprise compared to previous years.
