The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet released a proposed 2016 Statewide Freight Plan for public comment and is seeking recommendations to establish a freight advisory committee - aimed at enhancing communications between the Cabinet and the freight industry.

There will be a 30 day window for review and comment starting Friday, June 3 through Tuesday, July 5. Comments can be submitted to the KYTC Division of Planning Freight Coordinator.

The plan is available online.

A print version can also be obtained by emailing KYTC.ModalPrograms@ky.gov.

According to the plan, 40 percent of Kentucky’s gross domestic product comes from freight dependent industries. The state imports nearly 300 million tons of freight, exports more than 330 million and nearly 180 million in intrastate trade.
