The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has accepted bids on several major construction and paving projects in District 2 counties in west Kentucky.
The largest is a $43.24 million rehabilitation of the Pennyrile Parkway in parts of Christian and Hopkins counties. The project has a target completion date of August 2019.
The widening of US 41 Alternate in Hopkins County is a more than $9 million bid with a projected completion date in October 2020. KYTC said this project is perhaps the most anticipated.
Other projects include asphalt overlays on I-69 in Caldwell, Hopkins, and Webster Counties with target completion later this year. Work on all projects is expected to ramp up in April during the 2018 construction season.

Interstate 69 Asphalt Overlay on two sections; one from the I-69/WK Pkwy/Pennyrile Pkwy Exit 106 Interchange extending northward to the KY 108 Mortons Gap Exit 108 Interchange, a distance of 1.91 miles and a second section from the Fowler Road Overpass extending northward to the KY 138 Slaughters-Calhoun Exit Interchange, a distance of 6.8 miles—Successful bid of $3.29 million to Scotty’s Contracting & Stone, LLC, with a target completion date of September 1, 2018
Caldwell County
I-69 Asphalt Overlay and Rehabilitation from milepoint 79.35 at the KY 91 Princeton-Marion Exit 79 Interchange extending southward to KY 293milepoint 82.934, a distance of 3.58 miles.- Successful bid of $3,700,484 to Rogers Group, LLC, with target completion date of August 1, 2018.
Christian & Hopkins Counties
Pennyrile Parkway Concrete Rehabilitation Project from about a mile north of the KY 2642 Overpass starting at milepoint 16.556 extending northward to near the U.S. 41 Ramp Overpass at milepoint 29.9, a distance of 13.344 miles- Successful bid of $43.24 million to Hall Contracting of KY, INC., with a target completion date of August 31, 2019
Webster County
Interstate 69 Asphalt Overlay from near the KY 56 Sebree-Owensboro Exit 136 Interchange at milepoint 135 extending northward to milepoint 136.5 near the Webster-Henderson County line, a distance of about 1.5 miles—successful bid of $699,785 to Road Builders, LLC, with a target completion date of July 1, 2018.
