KY Persists for Farmer Aid

Kentucky – A Kentucky legislative committee Wednesday approved a resolution asking the federal government to give financial assistance to Kentucky farmers affected by drought and wind damage resulting from Hurricane Ike. The resolution reinforces a recent request for federal relief assistance by Governor Steve Beshear and Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer. The Palmer Index released Monday indicates Western Kentucky needs 5-inches of above-normal rainfall to end the current drought.
