Ky Education Commissioner to Discuss New Accountability System in Paducah Forum

kentucky.gov, Kentucky Department of Education

Kentucky Commissioner of Education Stephen Pruitt hosts a meeting in Paducah Monday to discuss public opinions on the development of a new accountability system to improve student readiness.

Pruitt is holding a series of meetings statewide seeking feedback for the yet-unnamed system created in response to the Every Student Succeeds Act. Following the public review, the commissioner will make a recommendation to the Kentucky Board of Education on the new accountability system.

The system would evaluate school performance on criteria including proficiency, achievement gap closure, student growth, transition readiness and opportunity and access.

The meeting is tonight at 6:30 in the McCracken County High School Auditorium.

Kentucky will submit its plan to the United States Department of Education in September 2017.
