KSP To Offer Grants To Battle Underage Drinking

Kentucky State Police are accepting mini-grant proposals for underage drinking prevention projects. The agency will offer five $2,500 mini-grants and one $25,000 enforcement grant, which has been provided by a U-S Department of Justice block grant program. KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer says enforcement is vital to reducing underage drinking, but that effort must be accompanied by education that will bring more awareness. Brewer says the main contributing factor to underage drinking is a youth's ability to illegally obtain alcohol. The grants will target that. Brewer says the activities funded by the grant would seek to make it harder for kids to gain access to alcohol.
