Kentucky State Police and the State Fire Marshal's office are investigating two unrelated cases of arson near Hazel in Calloway County.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Jay Thomas says troopers responded to a complaint early yesterday morning at the Masons Chapel United Methodist Church after a member noticed an open door and found the church on fire. The church sustained serious damage.

KSP was assisted on the scene by the Calloway County Fire Department, the Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Thomas says the ATF was notified as usual with arson cases involving churches.

KSP is searching for suspects and asks anyone with information to contact the Kentucky State Police at (270)856-3721 or toll-free at 1-800-222-5555, callers may remain anonymous.  The public can also text-a-tip at 67283 and remain anonymous.

The second fire occurred  at a residence around mid-day Monday. KSP arrested and charged 37-year-old Lidia Davison with 2nd degree arson, 1st degree criminal mischief, 1st degree wanton endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has been lodged in Calloway County Jail.

The investigation in both cases continues by Arson Investigator Frank Gresham of the Kentucky State Police.
