Kentucky State Police Names First Female Commander For Post 1

Kentucky State Police

The Kentucky State Police post 1 in Mayfield has its first female commander.

Captain Janet Barnett succeeds Lieutenant Brent White who had been serving as acting head after previous commander Nathan Kent retired in August.

Barnett is a 15-year veteran of the KSP. She graduated from Murray State University in 1997 and from the Southern Police Institute in 2013.

Post 1 covers Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken and Trigg counties.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
