The president of the Kentucky Senate is giving good marks overall for the 2014 general assembly session. Robert Stivers offered the assessment Monday during a caucus meeting of senate republicans.
"We have moved the bills that we felt were our priorities," said Stivers. "We have gotten a budget on time that is fiscally responsible. It takes care of various needs that each and every one in this room felt needed to be addressed as well as the public as a whole.
"As we get into the last 48 hours, we are not pushed nor rushed to do anything else," said Stivers. "As Damon said, we can be very contemplative with what we do to make sure that we don't make any mistakes."
Stivers is referring to Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer.
The senate president admitted it's possible lawmakers will leave Frankfort this week without a new two year road plan. If so, Stivers says roads and bridges would be constructed under the current plan.
