Kentucky revenue search

By Tony McVeigh

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky lawmakers are taking the day off for President's Day, but they'll be back at work tomorrow. On Thursday, the 60-day session hits the mid-point, and House Speaker Greg Stumbo says the search for revenue to support a new state budget continues.

"We're looking at a whole spectrum of things, all across the board. I mean, people come in almost every day - legislators - and say, why don't we do this, why don't we do that, why don't we do this, why don't we do that - from both sides of the aisle. So, it's a pretty progressive approach that we're taking, I think."

One area where they're not looking is expanded gambling. Last week, House leaders rejected Gov. Steve Beshear's latest overture for a budget based on revenue from video slots at horse tracks.
