Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin and other state economic development officials are attending the 52nd International Paris Air Show this week. State officials view it as a prime opportunity to sell Kentucky’s already strong aerospace industry.
State officials say the aim is to discuss new business and expansion opportunities with aviation and aerospace executives from around the world.
Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Terry Gill says aerospace has been one of the fastest growing industries in the Commonwealth for several years.
The aviation and aerospace sector employs nearly 17,000 statewide at almost 80 different manufacturing, service, and technology-related facilities.
Aerospace products and parts continue to be Kentucky’s top export category.
First held in 1909, the Paris Air Show is the world’s largest aerospace event.
