A state alcohol beverage control investigator is credited with breaking up an illegal alcohol sales operation.

Department of Alcohol Beverage Control authorities learned about 1 year ago that Brian Middleton, of Frankfort, was attempting to sell stolen liquor out of trunk of his car.

Investigator Willie Skeens set up a meeting with Middleton and purchased several bottles of whiskey. ABC investigators bought alcohol from Middleton on two other occasion in parking lots of Frankfort businesses while recording the transactions.  He was arrested in November of 2015.

In total, Middleton sold more than 100 bottles of liquor valued at $2,000 to undercover investigators.  He pleaded guilty last month in Franklin Circuit Court.
