The U.S. jobless rate was 4.6% in November. Kentucky’s unemployment rate was 4.8% last month, down from 5.1% in October.

Over the last year, Kentucky has seen growth in both the labor force and the number of people employed. The November 2016 jobless rate was eight-tenths of a percentage point lower than the 5.6% rate in November 2015.

Kentucky’s professional and business services sector gained 6,800 jobs over the past year. The trade, transportation, and utilities sector added 5,200 positions. Smaller gains were found in the financial activities and educational and health services sector.

Year-over-year losses were found in the construction, government, and mining sectors.

The leisure and hospitality, as well as the information sector also posted a decline in jobs from a year ago.
