The leader of the Kentucky House expects to see a slimmed-down road construction budget come before his members. The full house is expected to vote on the plan this afternoon.
Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo says the six year plan, which outlines construction schedules and costs, is over programmed by a billion dollars.
"It doesn't make any budgetary sense to really have it over programmed that much," said Stumbo. "About ten percent is what we've been shooting for, so that projects once they get in there, they get started, they have some finality to them."
Stumbo says additional costs are to be expected in meeting environmental needs and paying for right-of-way.
