Kentucky Highways Update

By Chris Taylor

Murray, KY – Highway crews in west Kentucky worked overnight to clear major routes down to wet pavement, and temperatures held right at the freezing mark allowing salt and other ice-deterring chemicals to work efficiently. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd says however, highway engineers have concerns about re-freezing of melted snow as temperatures, driven by artic air, fall into the teens and lower 20s this afternoon and tonight. Crews are again plowing and treating the major routes in time for the morning commute. Drivers should reduce speed and be cautious out there this morning.
