Author: Mario Sánchez Prada, Wikimedia Commons

This year’s school safety data report has been released and show that drug and alcohol issues remain a priority concern.

The Kentucky Center for School Safety report focuses on data from 2013 through 2014.

It reveals that less than one percent of students across Kentucky committed a law violation on school grounds. But, drug and alcohol infractions make up almost half of all infractions.

There were 384 weapons violations reported with 43 classified as firearms.

The new report will serve as a baseline to be used in the coming years to illustrate trends in Kentucky school districts.

Since this is the first year using this format, there is no comparative data with previous years.
