Kentucky-based group leaves Haiti safely

By Charlie Compton

Port-au-Prince, Haiti – A missionary school operated in Haiti by a Kentucky-based group escaped damage in last week's earthquake. Christian Flights International executive director Scott Mandl adds there were no injuries among staff members, or the school's 11-hundred students.

"What we're hoping to do is to be a small part of the effort and to help out and we're praying that things can improve and I need to say I really, really appreciate how many calls and e-mails we've had from people saying how can we donate, how can we help?' and it's really needed at a time like this."

Mandl says they're now evacuating former students from Port-au-Prince. Once they return to the school, which is in the town of Ranquitt, Mandl says, evacuees will receive food, shelter and medical care. Also, he says volunteers from Christian Flights International leave this week for Haiti carrying much needed supplies.
