This latest fundraising haul is down considerably when compared to the campaign's first three months of the year, whenBeshearraised just over $885,000. The total contributions giveBeshear, the son of Governor SteveBeshear, an impressive lead with no other candidate from either party in the field.

Beshear's campaign also announced it had the backing of prominent Democratic figures such as former attorneys general Dave Armstrong and Greg Stumbo, the former mayor of Louisville and the current state House speaker, respectively.

Other Democrats such as former state Auditor Crit Luallen and incumbent State Auditor Adam Edelen also endorsed Beshear's run this week.

"I am proud to lend my endorsement to Andy Beshear," Luallen said in a news release. "I believe in his integrity, and am confident he will be a strong and ethical attorney general."

Current attorney general, Democrat Jack Conway, cannot seek re-election because of term limits.
