Kentucky is hoping to secure up to 10-million dollars in federal support to fight the opioid addiction epidemic.

The federal government recently announced it was making funding available to states struggling with increasing opioid abuse. The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services is submitting the state’s application, and is soliciting input from those with expertise and experience dealing with opioids. The deadline for input on the state’s application for the federal money is January 19th. The Cabinet says it’s especially hoping for input from several groups, including pregnant and parenting women with opioid addictions…incarcerated individuals with abuse disorders who are re-entering the community…and those treated in emergency rooms for opioid overdoses.
