July Unemployment Down Slightly to 10.7%

By Chris Taylor

Nashville, TN – State officials say Tennessee's July unemployment rate dropped slightly from the previous month. Labor Commissioner James Neeley says last month's rate was 10.7 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from the June rate of 10.8. Neeley says the lower rate is mostly a result of discouraged workers dropping out of the work force. Tennessee continued to top the national rate of 9.4 percent for July.
