Judge Upholds Metropolis Adult Club Ordinance
By Gary Pitts and Paducah Sun
A judge says the city of Metropolis, Illinois can now enforce laws restricting adult businesses in the city limits. On Friday, southern Illinois US District Court Judge Phil Gilbert ruled the city can enforce ordinances restricting alcohol sales, dancer attire, and contact with customers. City officials drafted the ordinances last year shortly after the opening of the Pony adult dance club. Club owner Jerry Westlund filed a restraining order saying the laws would cause him to have to close the business. Westlund tells the Paducah Sun he will appeal Friday’s decision, but as of now, the ordinances are law.
