New numbers from the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet show jobless rates in 119 counties fell in May compared to the previous year.
Today’s report says all Purchase region counties saw some increase in unemployment from the previous month, but were all at least a point lower than May 2014.
Pennyrile counties followed a similar pattern.
Woodford recorded the lowest rate in the Commonwealth at 3-point-8 percent with Magoffin County posting the highest at 12.7 percent.
Russell County, in south-central Kentucky, was the only county to see a rise.
The state’s unemployment rate matches the national average at 5-point-3 percent.
