Jobless Rate Falls in 74 Kentucky Counties in September 2016

State officials say unemployment rates fell in 74 of Kentucky's 120 counties between September 2015 and September 2016.

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training says jobless rates increased in 41 counties and stayed the same in five counties — Grayson, Henderson, Livingston, Logan and Simpson.

It says Oldham and Woodford counties had the state's lowest jobless rates at 3.1 percent each. They were followed by Shelby County at 3.3 percent, Fayette County at 3.4 percent and Boone, Spencer and Warren counties at 3.5 percent each.

Magoffin County had the state's highest unemployment rate at 15.5 percent. It was followed by Leslie County at 12.5 percent, Letcher County at 11.3 percent, Harlan County at 11.2 percent, Elliott County at 11.1 percent, Floyd County at 10.5 percent and Knott County at 10.2 percent.
