The state of Illinois released their unemployment rates earlier this week. The state's average is down from ten-point-four percent in July to nine-point-nine percent for the month of August. In Southern Illinois, Hardin County rates are highest with twelve-point-two percent. Massac County has the lowest, with nine percent.
