IL Governor Backs Relief Measure

By Angela Hatton

Springfield, IL – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is backing a measure by a U-S congressman to help military families. The bill would give families money collected from a donation check-off program on federal income tax forms. Democratic Bill Foster is sponsoring the legislation to create the National Military Family Relief Fund. Foster's proposal is modeled on a similar Illinois program. Governor Quinn says the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund has collected 8-million-dollars to aid military families since its inception in 2003.
