Ice Rink Success
By Angela Hatton
Paducah, KY – Officials are cautiously optimistic the Paducah Ice Rink will be a success, despite high installation costs. The city invested around a hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars for the rink, which officials proposed to promote tourism this winter. Director of Parks Mark Thompson doesn't think it's realistic to expect the temporary rink to break even this year, but hopes to cover staffing and utilities. Thompson says around fourteen-hundred people showed up to skate this past weekend, up by a hundred from the rink's grand opening the week before.
