I-24 Wreck Kills 1; Injures 5

Paducah, KY – A single car wreck on Interstate 24 in McCracken County yesterday killed one and injured five family members. I-24 was closed down in both directions for several hours. 47-year-old Joanne Santana of St. Louis apparently lost control of her car and overcorrected, veering across the grass median. The car reportedly flipped three times before landing upside down in the eastbound lane. Santana was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car, 7-year-old Oscar Correa was thrown from the car from the force of the wreck. Correa was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. His condition is unknown. 9-year-old Taish-Mara Correa was kept for observation at Western Baptist Hospital, while other family member passengers were treated and released.
