Humane Society Considers Bylaws

By Angela Hatton

Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County Humane Society Board meets this evening to consider changes to its by-laws. The move comes after the Madisonville Messenger reported on a series of issues at the local shelter, including a 79 percent euthanasia rate. One revision under consideration would allow the board to remove officers by a two-thirds majority vote. Current board president Judy Lacy has been criticized for her management of the society. The group also votes on measures that would define the length of a board members' term and give the board administrative power that had belonged to the president. The 5 o'clock meeting is at the Government Center.
