Housman Vote Makes New Paducah Middle School Unlikely

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Kentucky House leaders say they will not recommend funding for a new Paducah Middle School after Paducah Representative Brent Housman voted last week against a $300 million revenue generating bill. Housman tells the Paducah Sun he refuses to trade his vote on what he thinks is bad legislation for a project in his district. House Speaker Greg Stumbo says opponents of House Bill 530 would not be in line for school construction projects as part of the spending plan. The spending plan passed last week. Housman says it isn't right the House leadership plans to fund schools based on how someone voted on a bill.
