Paducah area businesswoman Joni Hogancamp has filed to run for the state's 3rd district House seat.
Hogancamp - a Republican - announced she would make a second run for the seat last fall. She filed for the seat on Monday. In 2016, she ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Gerald Watkins. Watkins is retiring.
Hogancamp is co-owner and co-founder of Caring People Services, providing care to seniors with health issues.
“As a business owner who serves the Jackson Purchase Area residents in their homes, I have seen our costs of living rise and government regulations are costing us jobs.” said Hogancamp.” When elected, I will work with our legislators to pass pro-growth policies that expand opportunities for struggling Kentuckians," Hogancamp said in a release.
She has said healthcare would be a priority should she be elected, particularly how to pay for the state's expanded Medicaid. She has also said she would focus on developing industry in the region.
The 3rd district includes Paducah and part of McCracken County.
Hogancamp will face other Republican candidates in a primary.
