Paducah, KY – The Paducah Fire Department is planning for an internal hiring search following the retirement of one of their assistant fire chiefs. Assistant Chief Wendelle Harvey announced his retirement a few weeks ago. Chief Steve Kyle says they hope to promote someone from the department to fill Harvey's position. Kyle says the process should take 60 to 90 days. He says the department is also working to hire new firefighters soon. Kevin McKellips will fill in as interim assistant chief.
