Incumbent Richard Heath will be returning to his second district state House seat.
The Republican won with 9,181 votes over Democratic challenger Jesse Wright’s 6,258.
Heath says he plans to advocate for faith-based New Pathway Home for Children in northern Graves County during his term.
“They did not renew their contract with the state this past July 1 because the state was telling us that they can’t give children a Bible. They can’t pray with them. They can’t encourage them to go to church,” Heath said. “So the organization said you’ve taken away all of our tools that we need to help these children. So we’re going to take a look at legislation to see if there’s a way we can find some middle ground.”
The second district covers Graves County and part of McCracken County. This is Heath’s second term as state representative.
