Hopkinsville, KY – The newest Hopkinsville City Council member represents a historic shift in the group. City council members voted Tuesday night to appoint Kim McCarley to represent Ward 2. Councilman Phillip Brooks tells the Kentucky New Era because of McCarley's appointment, there are four African-Americans and four women serving on the council for the first time in its history. McCarley hopes to focus on school and public safety during her tenure on the council.
