Gubernatorial Candidates Prepare for Final Debate

By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – Incumbent Democratic Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will debate his general election opponents for the final time tonight. The 90-minute event will be broadcast statewide on Kentucky Educational Television tonight beginning at 7 p.m. Central Time. It will be only the second debate between Beshear, Republican David Williams and independent Gatewood Galbraith, and it comes with just more than a week remaining before Election Day. University of Louisville political scientist Laurie Rhodebeck says a public television debate isn't likely to sway a race in which polls have Beshear leading by 30 percentage points.
