Grant Will Pay to Map KY's Broadband

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky has been awarded a $2.1 million grant to map broadband Internet access across the state and plan improvements and expansion. Governor Steve Beshear said in a statement the grant will help the state increase Internet services in underserved areas and areas where broadband connectivity is unavailable. The federal grant will pay to assess the availability, speed, location and technology type of broadband that exists in the state and to report the results to the U.S. Commerce Department's
National Telecommunications and Information Administration. The state report will be included in a comprehensive, interactive national broadband map that the federal Recovery Act requires to be publicly available by next February.
