Gov. Bevin Launches Portal for 'Kentucky Colonel' Application

Matt Markgraf, WKMS

Governor Matt Bevin joined Lynn Ashton, Executive Director of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, in launching a new portal for requesting Kentucky Colonels.

A current member of the order can fill out the web form, listing a nominee’s charitable acts and reason for recommendation.

Bevin says, “Kentucky Colonels are servant leaders that are dedicated to the well-being of their community in a way no one else can be. They touch the lives of those who need it most throughout the Commonwealth, including people and families in our communities. Kentucky Colonels enjoy a rich tradition and history, and we hope that this renewed focus on community service helps revitalize the spirit of giving within the Order.”

Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honor bestowed by the governor of Kentucky.

Bevin temporarily stopped issuing commissions last month to review the requirements necessary to receive the honor.
