Good Read: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

If you're thinking about holiday shopping for a young adult or anyone who enjoys a simply good read, consider picking up this week's recommended read, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, from Katherine Farmer, Coordinator of the Racers Children's Preview Collection at Murray State University.

Life is always difficult for those who know things that they shouldn't know. They are constantly bombarded with personal feelings of whether to believe what they know or reject that knowledge and live life like they didn't know what was going to happen in the first place.

This is a reality that Blue must face in the latest work by Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Boys.

Her mother, the town psychic, has always warned her that if she ever kissed her true love, he will die. This message is reinforced when she participates in a yearly ritual with her aunt and sees the spirit of Gansy, a Raven boy, otherwise known as a rich kid from the private academy. As a non-psychic, the vision of his spirit means that she will either kill him in 12 months, or that he is her true love. So to protect herself from such a loss, Blue has vowed to stay away from boys, especially the Raven boys. She thought that she could keep to her vow until Gansy visits her mother for a psychic reading, and she becomes involved with his quest to find and wake the sleeping Welsh king.

Will Blue find her one true love? Is it Gansy? Will he die by her hand? To find out what happens to Blue and Gansy, read The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.
