The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) is bringing a FREE Department of Homeland Security-certified course on Responding to the Functional Needs Populations of Rural America to Grand Rivers, Kentucky on January 24th. It's the first time this kind of training has been in our region. The deadline for registration for this program is Thursday, January 10. Glenda is the course instructor.
The City of Mayfield is getting a $15,000 Homeland Security Grant. The city requested the grant to provide face masks and a mask leak/fit tester for the members of the Mayfield Fire Department. The grant comes despite a 50 percent reduction in Department of Homeland Security grants for the state. This year the commonwealth was able to award only $2.2 million dollars from approximately $11.8 million in statewide application requests.
