Fulton County Starts Work on Industrial Pad Project

Whitney Jones / WKMS

Fulton County is looking to grow its local business with an upcoming industrial pad. According to Kentucky Labor Market Information, the area has had a stubbornly high unemployment rate that currently sits at 6.4 percent.

The Fulton-Hickman County Economic Development Partnership is funding the project; Director Eddie Crittenden says while no companies have committed to a spot just yet, he’s confident they’ll come.

“There’s such a lack of buildings in the region, actually across the whole state,” Crittenden said. “So this is your first line of being able to offer something to a company.”

Crittenden says bulldozing has begun on the 100,000 square foot lot and when completed, it’ll have electricity and plumbing along with a fiber optic internet connection ready for new businesses.

The pad’s expected to be complete within 40 days. It'll cost the EDP about $135,000.
