Founder of Ferrell's Snappy Service Has Died

The owner of an iconic western Kentucky diner has died. Cecil Ferrell passed at 1:00 a.m. Monday morning at the age of 96.

Ferrell and her husband opened Ferrell’s Snappy Service in downtown Hopkinsville in 1936. The eight-stool diner was recognized as a "Kentucky Landmark" by Representative Ed Whitfield in 2003.

The diner’s Missy Gibbs says Ferrell’s son Phillip will own and continue to operate the restaurant.

Hopkinsville's Hughart, Beard, and Giles Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
