Fort Campbell to Honor Longtime U.S. Army Advocate

U.S. Army Fort Campbell, Facebook

Fort Campbell is holding a memorial ceremony later this month to honor a longtime advocate for the U.S. Army who passed away in May. Clarissa Ann Jackson Freeman, known to many as “T.C.” was a lifelong advocate specifically for Fort Campbell soldiers and their families. Freeman was 83.

The ceremony is June 28 at 10 a.m. Gate 4 will be renamed and dedicated to her during the ceremony.

In a news release on Fort Campbell’s Facebook page, Freeman is described as being “a powerful force for change at both state and national levels and a tireless advocate for the Army.” Major General Gary Volesky says “For over thirty years, she has been our champion.”

Freeman grew up in Texas. Her grandfather helped secure the land to build Fort Hood. In Killeen, she met and married her husband, Hopkinsville native, now retired Colonel Bobby H. Freeman.

In 2008, she was named Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Central Kentucky.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
