Former Reidland Middle School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse Charge

McCracken County Sheriff's Department

A former Reidland Middle School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female student could spend three years in prison after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors.

24-year-old Chelsea Rose, who also coached the RMS cheerleading team, pled guilty today in McCracken County Circuit Court. Rose first acknowledged the relationship in an interview with police after her arrest in February.

She faces one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication device to procure a minor.

As part of the plea, her sentence would run concurrently with any further time from a related case ongoing in Marshall County. There, Rose allegedly took the victim along with two other students to a home where alcohol was provided; allegations of sexual contact were made.

Those charges are:

  • First-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16 years old
  • Third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor

Additionally, Rose must register as a sex offender and undergo a sex offender assessment. Pending a judge’s approval of the deal, the McCracken County Circuit will proceed with sentencing November 19th

Rose is also scheduled to appear for a Marshall County court pre-trial conference September 21st.
